Nursing is a dynamic process and there are advances being made all the time with the advent of new treatments, technologies and changes in the delivery of care. It is natural then that the nurse, as a reflective and competent practitioner needs to incorporate learning into everyday practice and that this learning is seen as an ongoing process – an evolutionary process. This commitment to learning is known as lifelong learning and this programme forms merely one part of the emergency nurse’s development.

Further studies in emergency nursing are encouraged as ongoing development for the emergency nurse and these may include advanced life support Programs, triage Programs, trauma Programs, emergency nurse practitioner Programs, post-graduate or masters level Programs, research degrees amongst others.
